Does this mean "curtains" for our phone box?
It seems Box will be losing its public phone box after having one on our Village Green for over 50 years. A few months ago BT removed the cash box and restricted the public phone to emergency calls and "reverse charge" calls only. BT have recently put a notice in the phone box that reads as follows: "....a detailed survey has shown that this kiosk is not being used sufficiently to continue the service at this location. We are therefore proposing to remove this payphone following a consultation period of 42 days from the above date. (5th June 2008) To include your views, please contact your Local Authority Planning Department who will collate all responses back to BT " |
