BOX VILLAGE, Gloucestershire

LOCAL FOOD AND DRINK

Box has its own, privately owned pub and restaurant restored to its original name, the Halfway House. Now under new management, the pub has been extensively refurbished to provide attractive facilities in which to serve a choice of excellent food and drink. The Halfway House opened a good quality restaurant at the end of 2005, and the bar provides an interesting range of "real ales", including some local brews. See Home Page for the latest news.

Box is also fortunate in having numerous other sources of good food and drink nearby. Within reasonable walking distance in Minchinhampton, Amberley and Nailsworth are some fine pubs and restaurants, most specialising in draught beers and locally obtained food presented to a very high standard. Within a few miles, numerous pubs and restaurants offer exceptional standards of food and drink. Nailsworth now has its own tiny brewery (Nailsworth Brewery) and adjoining pub. For a tried and tested recommendation, ask almost any Box resident!

Fresh foods such as fish, meat, vegetables and bread are now all available from specialist shops in either Minchinhampton or Nailsworth, with a local farmers' market in Nailsworth once a month (4th Saturday, 9am - 1pm) and now every Saturday in Stroud, 9am - 2pm.
